Dime-a-dozen "Rebels"

…Another chat with the opposition. Amazingly, when discussing, debating, or arguing with the left (who will often not wish to be referred to as the left), they repeatedly express the same bottom-line conclusions that their type always reach. In the end, the entire discussion comes down to the fact (in their mind) that they have somehow come to see through "the lies, deceptions, and veils" that hide the truth from simpler souls. And when they finally reach this superior insightful position, what is their take on world events? …The anti-Bush, anti-U.S. worldview. Wow, isn't that special! The talking points become the same, "…no weapons of mass destruction, a hijacked election, and an American police state where the citizens 'only think' they are free because they believe what they are told in the newspapers."

So, how exactly do these hyper-wise souls come to acquire such novel insightful information and yet end up reaching conclusions that are as unique and profound as a plastic key ring?

When their clear partisanship is questioned, their response – always – is that they ultimately "take no side." They somehow dwell intellectually in a lofty realm that is completely uncommitted to any belief or side of modern political dispute, and then they repeat the mantras, "…no weapons of mass destruction, a hijacked election…, and …an American police state where the citizens 'only think' they are free because they believe what they are told in the newspapers." You won't hear them formulate or "unveil" possible conspiracies or express ill-will toward Fascist Muslim fanatics or utopian totalitarians – they "take no side," but clearly prefer only one side's appraisal of contemporary events.

The pampered mystics of modern anti-American Leftism don't seem to notice that, in their supposed unique and profound rebel insight, they're merely repeating the conspiracy theories and delusions of every Michael Moore script they've ever seen or read (hardly profound, insightful, or particularly rebel-like).

The left is consistent…but they aren't rebels. As far as insight or seeing through "the lies" they in fact do no more than accept other truths (occasionally) and other lies. They take a side (clearly), have little gripe with Islamo-fascism, totalitarian socialism, or massive government bureaucratic power, but find all acts of evil, danger, and deception in the world to stem from a guy from Texas who will be out of office in two years and the supposed police state he rules from.

From the far left (and that's as appropriate a label as any for them) I keep hearing the same skepticism toward the same sides (and not the others) and the same suggestion that the anti-U.S., anti-Bush position is somehow the result of their unique and powerful insight. Beneath it all; the bogus big lie of all strains of leftwing politics, that the one espousing such "insight" is somehow an independently thinking rebel.

They may be consistent in their talking points, their delusions regarding world affairs and a belief in their own superior insight and judgment, but they aren't rebels, 'Never have been, never will be.

Anti-Americanism is not only unprofound, like its many espousers …it's boring.

On Thursday We Leave for Earth

I just finished watching the old Twilight Zone extended episode of On Thursday We Leave for Earth. I remember seeing a rerun of it when I was a teenager and being rather impressed by the story it told. In watching it now I realize that it's a perfect symbolic story of the psyche of a collectivist autocrat and his – often well-meaning – delusions. I will say no more about the stories plot other than to recommend the piece for its masterful insight into human character and the need by some for obsessive control over the actions and lives of those deemed too simple to direct their own fate.

Remember, if we wish to follow our own paths and form our own associations unguided by our intellectual betters' superior judgment, it can only be because we are "selfish and greedy, " or have had the wool pulled over our eyes by conspiratorial capitalist villains (that only the budding autocrat-magician can see through).

This Twilight Zone episode is excellent entertainment – in real life the same dynamic is not so entertaining. Too many have had their lives and souls stolen from them in the name of communal goodness and obedience to the schemes of psychotic utopians.

Hackers, and Hating the very Thought of Free Society

My Home Page, Promethean Allegory, was a simple statement of values with some links. I thought its simple design and color scheme was rather nice but someone didn't like its content. When doing a search for "Promethean Allegory" on Google, a few entries down one fineds the following:

"This Site Has Been HackED By The Angry Hacker Wolf Net ARab - WHEN ...... in Tokyo, Japan. We encourage everyone to check out his website Promethean Allegory]. This article comes... modules.php?name=News&file=print&sid=35 - 7k - Supplemental Result - Cached - Similar pages"

I'm flattered that someone took the time and energy to remove my thoughts from the web. In any event, it appears that this blogspot site is more difficult to crack (though minor alterations to my links here have been pulled off before) so I'll just repost my original text here (minus my personal design craft).

Also, note the Hacker's stated name, ..."Wolf Net ARab." The last time this clown removed my work it was regarding a post on Fidel Castro that I did (there's a link to that essay among my "Big Rants" in the left margin. I'm gonna guess that the "Wolf Net ARab" is not an Arab at all but a typical leftist spoiled brat using the tools and products of capitalism and seeking to squelch any free expression that dares intrude upon his or her fantasies of the glorious state ruling over us free-spirited simpletons.

For the record, if I had the knowledge and ability to remove leftist sites, I wouldn't. I despise everything they stand for but libertarian conservatism is consistent and believes above all else in a free society where one believes and expresses what they choose. Our leftist Jacobin betters cannot make that claim, and they have a history of massive intrusive bureaucracy and death lists in the millions to support their unique take on life.

At some future time I'll likely post my original site as a separate blog and maybe even get it back up on its original domain. I have copies of all my sites so hacking them is only a temporary annoyance. Attempting to "hack" the values of freedom from the souls of men and women is impossible.

The following post is my original text to Promethean Allegory, a statement in honor of a free society.

The rebellion of the individual

A rant in honor of freedom and the diverse
creativity of a free society:

We live in a time of historical Renaissance. The innovation and technology that allows you to view this document is just one miraculous manifestation in this period of expanding freedom, diverse expression, and cultural advancement. The 21st century Renaissance has succeeded most in those countries that have adopted open political systems, a free system of exchange, the rule of law (over the whim of tyrants and bureaucrats), and acceptance of diverse interests and lifestyles in human nature. Those who oppose this historically rare circumstance are among the same clique' that has always sought a return to a mythical/communal past or utopian future. They were the Jacobins of the French Revolution (and its Rein of Terror), and the Communists and Fascists of numerous 20th century nightmares. In our own time, fundamentalist-terrorists and socialist-collectivists still seek the same ultimate goals as their forebears; a rigid society under the direction and control of -- themselves -- intellectuals, bureaucrats, failed artists, and philosophers.

This site’s ultimate bias is for the free creative individual. As such, it is by default dedicated to opposing all aspects of socialist/collectivist philosophy. The most totalitarian and destructive personalities in political history have not been "greedy" businesspersons, but overwhelmingly, intellectuals, artists, and other assorted romantic idealists. It is a tragic irony that the authoritarian collectivist world view is often a stance held by many artists and intellectuals. Such perspectives ultimately stem from a psuedo-religious perspective that takes predictable stands on everything from how students should be taught in our schools, to how much CEOs "should" be paid (or if they should even be allowed to exist). Though these perspectives have traditionally been referred to as The Left, in reality they comprise a score of ideologies from Fascism to Communism. Those posing as guardians of morality, altruism, and "justice," are often mere control freaks of authoritarian ideology. They have thwarted, and would continue to restrain, the individual identity wherever its creative dynamism dared to manifest.

The stance expressed here is not a patriotic, jingoistic, Republican tirade -- as much as some may wish to pigeonhole it as such. Traditional right and left ideologies often share many common values in that they both desire a role for the state (and for themselves) to impose their moral standards and ideals regarding the way others should live.
It is easy for one to note the absurdities of the US government's abuses of power in a variety of areas. All the same, degrees of corruption or totalitarian menace lie upon a wide spectrum. George Bush is NOT Adolph Hitler. Bin Laden is NOT a "freedom fighter" promoting the "struggle of oppressed people's." The fact that the US government is, like all governments, corrupt or abusive is certainly no argument for increasing its authority, scope, and funding, as our "progressive rebels" would have it.

Who was Prometheus?

Prometheus was the Titan of Greek Mythology who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans. As a symbolic story and archetypal image, "an allegory," the Promethean myth represents the human will’s potential for heroic defiance against arbitrary authority and the capacity of human reason to obtain knowledge from the natural world. Fire symbolizes knowledge and reason -- the divine spark of human thought and creativity. Prometheus is the archetypal revolutionary who helps to transform the human condition from one at the mercy of outside forces to one that is master of its own destiny. As a revolutionary, he represents genuine revolutionary impulses, not the contrived ideals of collectivists to squelch human autonomy for the obsessive need to impose communal equality (leveled conformity).

The Promethean archetype represents the dynamic hero figure, the catalyst to worldly advancement.
Socialists often paint their "struggle" (to use their word as well as Bin Laden’s and Hitler’s) in heroic terms, but there is nothing heroic about the socialist/collectivist worldview. Socialism has always sought to glorify weakness, suffering, victimhood, and imposed scarcity as means to justify theft from productive forces and impose even greater corruptions than the ones they claim to oppose. Its vision has always been to play upon envy and resentment. It is the antithesis of human heroism and brings with it stasis, decay, and a return to the club and the cave. Its nature is that of primitive tribalism. Its method is to cast the free mind’s achievement into the dusty file cabinets of bureaucratic incompetence.

In astrological perspectives, Prometheus is seen in the symbolism of the planet Uranus - the model of innovation, insight, individuality, and revolutionary dynamism. As the archetype of individual autonomy, it is diametrically opposed to "the Revolution" most political extremists speak of. While today’s "revolutionary" (or, "Progressive," as they often like to describe themselves) may be opposed to the powers that be,the Promethean rebel is one step ahead of the game and opposes the powers that would like to be, as well. In this regard, the businessperson and entrepreneur is not the villain portrayed by the Left, but a creative human figure as much as any artist or poet. The scorn and envy directed at societies most creative personalities has been the pathetic route used by the unproductive and incompetent (usually calling themselves "philosophers") in the guise of seeing their "spiritual" vision as a greater end than productive engagement in the real world.

A society in which individuals can freely choose to associate, trade, act, and interact openly without fear of imposed coercion, is one which has accepted the Promethean flame. The call to water down that divine spark and impose its product's distribution is a call to reject every true Renaissance in human history and place us all into blind obedience to the tribe and its corrupt leaders.

To restrict, regulate, control, and conform is to bind the Promethean free spirit.

Where one hears of envy and resentment against modernity, success, wealth, and achievement, one can be certain that it is no true "revolutionary" who is taking such a stand. Where calls are made to fortify and enhance the authority of the state over the human spirit, one can expect to move, not into the future, but back to the swamp of our cave dwelling forbearers.

States of condition / states of appraisal / states of insanity

As a rule; bitter, depressed, and failing individuals, groups, and nations resent and despise optimistic, happy, and successful individuals, groups, and nations. One's political perspective is largely determined by whether one views the former as victims, or merely bitter and depressed failures.

Islam, Image, and Newspaper Caricatures -- Not a Pretty Picture

Of all the leftists I've encountered in my day, a great many have articulated a dislike (often hatred) for Christianity, The Catholic Church, and Western Civilization in general that rivals their dislike of free and open society (modern liberal democratic capitalist society).

Where do they stand on the "blasphemous" cartoons-of-Islam issue?

Strike up a chat with anyone on the left and I'll guarantee that their sympathies will, as usual, be with the more violent and totalitarian elements, in this case fundamentalist extremist Islam -- the "victim" card writ large.

I've stated it several times and I need to repeat it as being one of my core observations regarding Leftism; When appraising a conflict between a totalitarian / authoritarian entity and a free / open society, a leftist will always "side with" (show the greatest sympathy toward) the totalitarian / authoritarian enterprise. If two totalitarian entities are in conflict, the left will side with the one that imposes the state's authority over economic affairs most (the more socialist of the institutions).

Like any sober observer, I know there are many Muslims who are not burning buildings, yelling and screaming like mad men (lets face it, you won't see too many "mad women" among them) but, this religion is really making a generally bad name for itself. In general but revealing terms, Islam is assuredly NOT the "religion of peace" but a cult of fanatical violence and anti-freedom. To say that it has more in common with communism and fascism than liberal capitalism would be a gross understatement.

...Certainly nothing worth converting to and something a wise person would choose to distance themselves from. Islam is not special, and its becoming clearer each week that Islam, in general, is not good.

To the howling hoards of "offended" control freaks; why not join your secular neo-Comm brethren, take your fatwas and shaking fists back to your totalitarian caves and leave the rest of civilization alone.
